The Epiphone Electar “1939” Century Lap Steel Guitar is a one of a kind reissue of a design by Herb Sunshine, a key employee of Epiphone at the “house of stathopoulo” headquarters in New York. Inspired by “1939” century lap steel outfit, the Electar features a one-piece mahogany body and neck coupled with a plexiglass fingerboard, delivering warm, classic tones that are recognisably unique. An Epiphone 500B “blade” humbucker is added to the guitar, delivering powerful tones with an even balance across all the strings. With its vintage headstock, classic bridge design, and traditional inlays, the Electar Century Lap Steel Guitar revives a design from the past, perfect for fans of the lap steel guitar and Epiphone design.
The Electar lap steel guitar takes inspiration from the “1939” century lap steel outfit, creating a one-of-a-kind reissue of the art deco styled Hawaiian lap steel guitar that was designed by Epiphone’s own Herb Sunshine. The guitar’s body profile is the same as the vintage original, crafting it from a single piece of mahogany to create both neck and body. The bridge features a period-style nickel-plated steel covering, while the fingerboard uses classic plexiglass to add to the vintage style of the guitar.
The Electar guitar is fitted with Epiphone’s 500B “blade” humbucker that is specially designed to produce an even sound across all the strings, perfect for producing Hawaiian inspired music. Its frets have been carefully set to provide excellent intonation at any position, ensuring the guitar produces the best sound at all times. The Electar also features traditional style inlays and an ebony finish to create an amazing look, and a non-slip rubber pad added to the back to keep the guitar in place while you play.
