The Epiphone SG Special VE Electric Guitar is a resurrected version of the original ''SG'' double cutaway, which was first released in the 1960s. This classic electric guitar has all of the great features of the lightweight and yet powerful, original SGs. From its vintage designed mahogany body, to its open coil humbuckers with ceramic magnets, the new SG Special VE has managed to capture the look and feel of its predecessor and take it to a whole new level.
First released in the 60s, the SG was intended to take over from the recently discontinued Les Paul. The lightweight and power SG took the music world by storm, used by many popular rock players such as Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Tony Lommi of Black Sabbath, and Pete Townshead of The Who.
The New SG Special VE features a mahogany body, carved into the classic SG body shape with elegant contours. Accompanied by a black pickguard and a custom SG style tune-o-matic bridge, the look and feel of the body offers a comfortable and stable playing experience. With its all mahogany body, the Epiphone SG Special delivers a warm, somewhat soft tone while still being well balanced and with a good grind and bite.
To match the body, the SG Special VE neck is made from mahogany in a D shape profile. This bolt-on neck is fitted with a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid ‘’dot’’ inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets. The combination of rosewood and mahogany offers a warm, mellow tone with good presence in the lower mids.
Loaded with two Epiphone open coil humbuckers, the SG Special VE produces a sound which will captivate any rock fan. The Epiphone 8 ceramic magnet's range offers a mix of past and future tone, maintaining clarity but emulating rich and subtle tones with a smooth midrange and a more pronounced cut on the top end.
