Originally conceived by Leo Fender back in 1956 this was the predecessor to the famous Fender Telecaster that just like the Strat has also stood the test of time due to Leo’s brilliant design. The big differences from the Tele to the Strat include things like each string having its own saddle for better intonation, the contoured body that fits comfortably to the player’s body and three pickups for a wider variety of tonal options.
Famous players of this ageless design include Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knopfler and Nile Rodgers. The strat has its own very unique tone that sounds gorgeously glassy and bell-like. It sounds absolutely amazing clean but can sound monstrous when you dial in the right amount of gain on your amp.
Modern versions of this classic design have updated features that are great for the modern player such as Humbucking pickups for a higher output, Floyd Rose bridges and locking nuts. But for the player who wants the classic look feel and sound, they still make accurate recreations of the original design.
