Gibson’s iconic ES-275 model is back, now as a part of their impressive 2018 line-up! This classic instrument is a traditional hollow-body guitar, designed to satisfy guitarists with its beautiful build quality and incomparable warmth and resonance.
The new for 2018 model still boasts the unique and classy looks of the earlier versions, however it now has some more up-to-date features that will appeal to old-school and modern players alike.
The 2018 Memphis ES-275 has a full hollow-body design, delivering a large and open acoustic-like sound. This gives you a great feel and response from the guitar, where you can feel every note or chord through your body. Its thinline body however is far more comfortable compared to its older counterparts, feeling less cumbersome to play when resting against you, whilst also reducing feedback when playing through a loud amplifier.
With Maple and Poplar tonewoods, this guitar provides a lot of top-end sparkle. This gives amazing clarity to arpeggiated or fingerpicked chord patterns, with great definition even if playing with overdrive or distortion.
The neck has a familiar rounded “C” neck profile, which feels substantial in the hands without being too chunky. Rolled binding also offers a smoother feel and a sleek transition between the side of the neck and the fretboard, a great feature that you will find only on high-calibre instruments like this.
Formed from quarter-sawn mahogany and a rosewood fingerboard, this neck has a pure feel that will satisfy the purists. This powerful combination of woods brings out the warmth of this guitar, merging well with the bright body woods. This means that this guitar sounds incredibly full-bodied, great for both live use or studio sessions.
Hardware and Electronics:
The ES-275 Custom has a functional ABR-1 bridge with a rosewood base, providing an old-school look that doesn’t stray too far from the iconic original design. Titanium saddles however give this a more modern spin, improving sustain, intonation and longevity. They also offer better tuning stability, along with the Grover “Milk Bottle” Rotomatic tuners which will keep the strings in check.
Dual MHS humbucking pickups give a rounded, warm tone with medium output. More responsive to your playing dynamics, they lend themselves to expressive players that like to convey their music in the most genuine way possible. With crunch or distortion, they can sound fairly raunchy and bold, meaning this guitar is not just a one-trick pony by any means. You can use this for jazz, blues, classic rock or indie – it’s that versatile!
The 2018 Gibson ES-275 Custom in Sunset Burst finish is a reinvented classic archtop designed with the modern player in mind. Honoring the long tradition of Gibson’s great jazz guitars in looks, tone and feel, the ES-275 Custom offers players of any musical genre a timeless instrument with modern functionality. For improved access to the 22 fret dark rosewood fretboard, the thinline body design features a single rounded cutaway. The Grover “Milk Bottle” Rotomatic tuners and pinned ABR-1 bridge with titanium saddles offer recise intonation and tuning stability. Rich tones are always on tap thanks to the hand-wired control assembly with Orange Drop capacitors, 550K matched pots, and our MHS humbucking pickups.
