    What We Think

The Guild OM-150CE is an extremely versatile electro acoustic guitar, suiting both strumming and fingerpicking styles, making it a perfect songwriting and performance tool. This guitar is of an extremely high quality, its Solid Sitka Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides provide clarity, solid projection and sustain which really shines through on stage, as its hidden Fishman Sonitone pickup allows every nuance to be heard.

This mid-sized orchestra shaped acoustic is equally suited for strumming and fingerpicking, and produces a sweet, balanced tone. The perfect choice for the versatile musician, the OM-150CE features a solid Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and an elegant cutaway for access to higher frets. The hidden Fishman Sonitone pickup gives this guitar a perfectly amplified boost for gigs and live performances. Other premium features include an Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and mother-of-pearl rosette. This model also has a 1¾” nut width on a vintage shaped Guild neck, iconic Chesterfield headstock emblem reminiscent of 1960s Guilds, period-correct tortoiseshell pickguard, and Guild’s new lightweight polyfoam case. Available in Natural gloss finish.

This Guild is a fabulous and relatively inexpensive choice for those looking for an all-solid, tonewood, small-bodied guitar. It has a projection and richness that is very impressive given its size. I have a similarly-sized all-mahogany Martin (000-15SM) and this compares very favourably to it in terms of its depth and resonance - which is quite amazing given the Guild OM-150CE is a spruce top. The bass response is superb. It also has a generous nut width and fret board width which for my money provides a far more satisfying playing experience than the slim taper necks found on most new Martins. The neck also feels comfortable but robust in your hands, with a pleasing C shape that, again, is more substantial than the thinner necks on most new Martins and most Taylors while being extremely playable. All-in-all I would say this has to be one of the very best value smaller acoustics on the market and it easily holds its own against many guitars from the 'Big Three' that cost twice as much. Guild deserve to thrive with this level of quality and this price.
