Kawai CN29 Digital Piano Satin Black
What We Think
The new Cn29 from Kawai Offers exciting new features to pianists, whether you are just starting to learn or if you are a seasoned player.
The Cn 29 has the highly acclaimed Responsive Hammer iii action keyboard, incorporating 3 sensors per key, giving the player a very articulate feel and response to their playing. The keyboard has a Graded hammer action, which means weights are incorporated in the keys, giving the true feel of an acoustic real piano in being heavy at the bottom of the keyboard and lighter at the top. The Cn29 also has the let off key simulation, recreating the “notch” sensation when playing the keys softly, as on a grand piano. The key tops are now finished in synthetic ivorite matt finish, which absorbs fingertip perspiration, again giving greater playing control on the keys.
The piano sound source is the acclaimed SK-EX Shigeru grand piano sample, with full 88 key sampling. And on the CN range Kawai uses its Progressive Harmonic imaging technology for the ultimate sound and playing experience.
There is a Record feature and you can store 3 songs in the piano, great for the learner pianist to sit back and listen to their performance or a more experienced player to play duets with themselves.
There is a built in lesson feature allowing you to learn favourites of Burgmuller and music from the Alfred series of music books. Concert Magic also allows the non-player to enjoy making music by pressing any keys, steadily to a selected piece of music.
The Cn29 has now got Bluetooth connectivity allowing the player to use some very useful music apps. The music stand is now adjustable and the piano has 2 x 20 watts of output. There is a choice of finishes Rosewood, satin black and satin white.
Unmistakable quality and style. The Kawai CN29 digital piano in satin black has everything you need to progress as a pianist - all within an elegant cabinet. Thanks to Kawai raising the bar in digital piano technology, the CN29 has set a new standard for affordable upright pianos.
At the heart of the CN29 are the rich and expressive sounds of the SK-EX and EX concert grand pianos. These pianos were painstakingly recorded and accurately reproduced as digital signals to guarantee you hear the preserved harmonics and character. When you combine these sounds with Kawai's class-leading Responsive Hammer III keyboard action which recreates the touch of a grand piano, then you will realise why the CN29 is so good.
To ensure that your new piano sounds brilliant all time, Kawai have incorporated their Superior Headphone Sound technology into the CN29. Not only does this enhance your playing experience while using headphones, but also reduces auditory fatigue when playing for long periods. You can even change the acoustic presets with the new OLED screen.
Thanks to Kawai's class-leading Responsive Hammer III keyboard action, you can now experience the supreme touch of an acoustic grand piano. With its realistic movement and rigid, springless design, you will never look back at your old piano again. Kawai's attention to detail has resulted in structural noise and key wobble being kept do a minimum, even during staccato and fortissimo passages.
Similar to all of Kawai's pianos, the CN29's keyboard has been weighted to mirror the heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers of an acoustic piano. For additional realism, the CN29 features counterweights which have been embedded within each key. These balanced weights will lighten the touch of the keys during gentle passages, while adding a greater feel of grandeur when playing with power. The CN29 even features let-off simulations which recreates the subtle notch felt when playing the keys of a grand piano.
To ensure you have the best possible experience, the sounds of the SK-EX and EX have been placed into the heart of the CN29. These Shigeru Kawai instruments can be found in the most prestigious concert halls and musical institutions throughout the world, and are recognised for their outstanding tonal clarity and exceptional dynamic range. Professional pianists often select these pianos for prestigious events such as the Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Rubinstein international piano competitions, among others. Now you can play on a Shigeru Kawai.
All 88 keys of the SK-EX and EX concert grand pianos were painstakingly recorded, then accurately reproduced as high-fidelity digital waveforms. Unlike other piano manufacturers, Kawai records each note individually to preserve the grand pianos' unique harmonic character. This way, you always get an accurate representation of the original instruments.
If you wish to manipulate the sound to your own personal preference, the CN29's Virtual Technician will enable you to refine even the smallest details. In "Smart Mode" you can pick from ten presets that intelligently adjust various characteristics of the grand pianos to match different musical styles. In "Advanced Mode" you can perform touch weight and voicing adjustments, regulate hammer and key release noises, and fine-tune string and damper resonances using the dedicated Virtual Technician iPad app.
Learning made easy. The CN29 offers a convenient way to learn and practise the piano - no matter your level. With the Lesson Function, you can control your learning. Equipped with a great selection of built-in etudes, piece, and practise songs, you can play along and practise at your own pace.
The CN29 embodies a sleek cabinet with a flat fascia and raised upper board for a classic upright feel. The broad music rest has been specially designed to accommodate larger scores, with a high-quality surface. Adjusting the angle of the music rest couldn't be easier, as it can be adjusted to suit the player's preferred position. It can also be laid flat, which is ideal for making notes and composing. The distinctive KAWAI logo, representing over 90 years of acoustic piano crafting excellence, adorns the CN29’s fallboard.
