MXR M225 Sub Machine Octave Fuzz Pedal
The Sub Machine has a few key differences to the La Machine all of which are there to give you more control in the moment. Firstly you can now select whether the octave up is on from a foot switch rather than a small button. You can now also roll in a sub octave using one of the four knobs on the front of the pedal. Just roll the sub control up and you will gradually introduce a sub effect into your signal giving you a much larger fatter sound.
One very cool thing you can do with the sub effect is that you can choose if you want it in series or parallel. Meaning you can say if it runs alongside the fuzz so you have a clean octave below, or you can set it to go into the fuzz meaning you can have your normal sound plus an octave above and below all fuzzed up.
Whats The Same
If you have ever played a La Machine fuzz the rest of the pedal will seem pretty much the same...because it is. If it ain't broke don't fix it and that is just as true with this pedal as anything else. The La Machine is a fantastic 70's fuzz with a decent range of sounds available even without this added sub octave. Now though you can really explore and experiment with an incredible octave fuzz.
