Founded in 1959 by a small family-run guitar shop, at the base of Mount Takamine, Japan, the company is now one of the biggest names in acoustic guitars today. Taking the same name as the mountain in 1962, Takamine celebrated 50 years of production in 2012 and are still going strong today, with the outstanding Pro Series amongst their increasingly popular ranges.
The Pro 3 series is another fine example of Takamine's desire to craft instruments that not only sound fantastic but to catch the eye with absolutely stunning looks.
For instance the P3DC-12, 12 string dreadnought features a gorgeous concentric-ring rosette, making the binding really pop whilst helping the overall resonance. The CT4BII preamp delivers the punch and clarity one would need when amplified. The smallest full-scale guitar, the CP3NYK, also boasts the same preamp but the back and sides are Koa wood, giving this instrument it's own unique flavour. With 9 guitars available in the range, all with Solid Cedar tops and a variety of choice tonewoods for the back and sides, every one of them offers something new. All topped off with gold hardware and stylish 'dot in dot' inlays, Takamine maintains their status as master crafters.
