Roland SYS-500CS Fully Analog Modular Synthesizer

Back in the 70s, Roland released two of their most renowned analog synth modules in the form of the Roland System 700 and the System 100M. These were championed by the likes of Giorgio Moroder to Depeche Mode because of the modules made available, thus allowing you to completely reshape your sound. Now, Roland are more than pleased to announce the release of the System 500 Complete Set which makes for your ideal first analog synth, and could instigate the beginnings of an expansive Eurorack system.

VINTAGE DESIGN

Roland have given the System 500 a real vintage appearance, just like its cousins beforehand in the System 700 and System 100M. The System 500 has a wood and metal case which offers an exquisite appearance while being versatile and sturdy. This is an entirely analog modular synthesizer including numerous oscillators, filters and effects with a classic appearance but the instrument itself is far from being old-fashioned.

MULTIPLE MODULES

The Roland System 500 is known as the Complete Set as it contains an incredibly versatile range of modules with a fully analog setup. Two VCOs (voltage controlled oscillators), two VCFs (voltage controlled filters), two VCAs (voltage controlled amplifiers), two ADSR envelopes (attack, decay, sustain and release), two LFOs (low frequency oscillators) and an impressive effects module are what compose modules 512, 521, 530, 540 and 572. This huge range of oscillators, filters and effects enable you to completely customise your sounds and discover a whole world of new sounds, all with that stunning, warm analog tone we have come to know over the years. Effects include a phase shifter, delay, gate delay and an invertible low frequency oscillator, allowing you to further expand your synth sound. The System 500 offers you the gold standard for oscillators and the combination of this with the envelopes and filters at hand makes it such an appealing synthesizer.

CV CONNECTIONS AND SETUP

Roland have kindly equipped the System 500 with a host of CV and Gate connections which open up a world of modulation possibilities. This also allows you to make the SYS-500CS the primary focus of your Eurorack system.

The SYS-500CS is indeed the Complete Set whereby you can begin your first synth journey, and later begin to expand your rack to include various other units. This fully analog modular synth comes supplied with a case, power supply and braid patch cables so you can get started from the moment you take it out of the box.
