Taylor 714ce Grand Auditorium Electro Acoustic V Class

Taylor’s prestigious 700 series has been redesigned to provide each individual model with its optimum spec in terms of bracing, wood thickness and other design elements. This range uses premium Rosewood and Lutz Spruce which is a hybrid species of White and Sitka Spruce. Lutz Spruce is even louder than Sitka so that will translate to great dynamic and projection when used as a tone wood. The special design Performance Bracing increases this also.

Each 700 series Taylor also features beautiful details like Abalone ‘Reflections’ inlays, a Douglas Fir rosette, Hawaiian Koa Binding with a Douglas Fir Edge trim and a wooden pickguard that’s been heat treated to give a fantastic old-world mottled look. These inspirational guitars are masterpieces of design and taste.

Inside this guitar lies some revolutionary ideas: V-Class bracing. Freshly developed by Taylor’s Master Builder Andy Powers, this innovative new style of bracing addresses the issues of achieving sustain and tone without sacrificing volume. The V-Class bracing allows the guitar’s top to move and vibrate in a more stable manner, allowing more focus and response from the wood. This control means more volume and projection.

The ‘V’ of the bracing travels the middle of the guitar, maintaining rigidity and lending sustain and resonance to your notes. On top of that, the guitar will intonate better due to the vibrations causing less interference that can sound times make the occasional note sound ‘out’. V-Class bracing means a louder, richer sound with better intonation and response.

This 714ce model is a Grand Auditorium body shape which is a great all-purpose design that’ll do strumming and fingerstyle equally well. It’s justifiably Taylor’s most consistently popular body size. The 'ce' of the guitar's model name denotes the venetian cutaway added to facilitate easy access to upper fret playing and also the addition of Taylor's wonderful Expression System 2. This is widely recognised as being one of the greatest acoustic pickup systems available: it translates every ounce of tone, detail and dynamic from your fingertips, strings and guitar wood to give the audience an accurate and fully realistic translation of your performance.

The tonewoods are pronounced versions of that classic Spruce and Rosewood combination so plenty of depth and low end rumble match a degree of liveliness, percussion and character with the characteristic slight mid range dip that leaves a little room for vocals to sit perfectly in the sonic spectrum. Playing this guitar is a very satisfying experience indeed and we recommend it for every player who enjoys a beautifully made acoustic that looks and sounds simply wonderful.
