Taylor 714CE WSB Cutaway Electro Acoustic Guitar Sunburst
The smaller Grand Concert body shape with a cutaway is ideally suited for intricate finger style players. You also get a shorter scale length than some other Taylors, reducing the string tension and making the guitar easier to play.
The back and sides are made from Indian Rosewood, so you’ll get a well-balanced tone that is rich and powerful at the bottom end, but clear and defined in the higher frequencies.
Combined with the dynamic top, the 710e sounds natural and lively.
The built-in electronics are Taylor’s own Expression System 2. This behind-saddle pickup is designed to offer a dynamic range of tones. Together with the on-board preamp the 710e sounds responsive and natural through a PA system.
Instead of mounting it in the traditional piezo position the pickup is mounted behind the saddle. Taylor claim this works better with the natural lateral movement of the saddle than the traditional under-saddle piezo position.
A Western Sunburst top, slotted headstock, and wood-rich detailing give this lively cutaway 12-fret Grand Concert loads of rootsy aesthetic character. The 12-fret neck-to-body relationship repositions the bridge on the soundboard, where it articulates the top in a way that produces more warmth and midrange punch.
The rosewood/Lutz spruce wood pairing yields a pleasing blend of sonic detail and dynamic range. The lap-friendly Grand Concert body is exceptionally responsive and curbs the overtones. Together with the hand-friendly 24-7/8-inch scale length, this makes a great guitar for fingerstyle players and anyone craving a physically comfortable playing experience.
The appointments evoke an Americana vibe, featuring Hawaiian koa binding, a herringbone-style rosette of Douglas fir with maple/black accents, bias-cut Douglas fir top trim, and a “weathered brown” pickguard design. The guitar also comes equipped with Taylor’s onboard ES2 acoustic electronics for a natural amplified acoustic sound.
