Introducing GrandTouch and ebony keytops
The newly developed GrandTouch keys offer more responsive touch and a greater dynamic range than ever before. The pianist can experience a natural, balanced response from the tip to the very back of each key. The black keys on all keyboards of the new CLP-600 series are finished in ebony. Synthetic ivory key tops reproduce the tactile surface of the real ivory keyboards that were once used in older acoustic pianos. It features highly absorbent material that prevents fingers from slipping even after hours of practice, while retaining the ideal texture and feel.
Real grand piano tone
Two world-renowned concert grand pianos in one. The powerful tone of the flagship Yamaha concert grand, the CFX, and the unmistakable sound of a Bösendorfer Imperial are available at the touch of a button. In the CLP-685 you will also find the Yamaha C7 Studio Grand. In additional to this, all models from the CLP-635 upwards include an Upright Piano voice.
Physical modeling techniques provide authentic reproductions of internal grand piano reverberations and offer rich, endlessly varying expressive capabilities. VRM reproduces the resonance characteristics of the strings for every note on the grand piano keyboard in nuanced detail.
Enhanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) for rich and bright sound
In a grand piano, sound resonates throughout the body of the instrument, producing a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. These phenomena are reproduced perfectly in the Clavinova through Yamaha Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) technology. The piano body resonates just like an acoustic piano. The acoustic system of the Clavinova reproduces the sensation of the entire piano vibrating, just like the feeling of playing an acoustic piano.
Even headphones produce a larger than life experience.
Thanks to advanced binaural sampling technology, you can enjoy the highly realistic sensation of playing a concert grand piano even when you are using headphones. For the first time Yamaha’s advanced binaural sampling technology is now available on the Clavinova. The technology uses samples from the CFX recorded with specialized microphones that capture locational information and other nuances discerned by the human ear. The resulting sound is so natural, so enveloping, that you’ll soon forget you’re even wearing headphones at all.
Built-in Bluetooth audio
You can play along with music from your favorite music apps via the Clavinova’s built-in Bluetooth interface.
The CLP675’s keyboard features the highly regarded Grandtouch system. These keys have a specially dried wooden core which has the classic feel of an acoustic piano. The keytops benefit from a synthetic material which has a similar touch as ivory and ebony. This makes the CLP675 suitable for traditional acoustic players who want each key to have a robust feel. The weighted hammer action has a smooth and consistent motion, allowing musicians to have an expressive response. This playability and likeness to an acoustic piano is ideal for advanced musicians wanting their performance to feature all of their subtle playing nuances.
Versatility is a necessity for both modern and traditional pianists. Yamaha’s unique sound uses sampling from two bespoke acoustic pianos for the most crafted tone possible. The CFX is Yamaha’s most appreciated concert grand piano, whilst the Bösendorfer Imperial is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest acoustic instruments. By combining the characteristics of these instruments, Yamaha’s samples have the detail and authenticity of a true acoustic piano. The keys are sampled individually, before being tuned with each other so that your performances sound as natural as possible. Yamaha bring acoustic expression to digital convenience with the Clavinova’s samples.
The Virtual Resonance Modelling technology optimises your piano’s resonance. In an acoustic piano each note blends with the next for natural swell and decay of sound. The VRM uses an advanced register to measure the strings’ distance and interaction with each other. It can also calculate the intensity of your performance and add an appropriate decay of each note. This gives the CLP675 a more acoustic feel with textured tones, removing any unnatural breaks in sound.
Yamaha’s advanced binaural sampling technology gives the player a fully immersive concert grand experience - even with headphones. The technology uses samples from the CFX, Yamaha’s acclaimed concert grand piano, recorded with specialised microphones that capture locational information and other nuances discerned by the human ear. The resulting sound is so natural that you’ll forget you’re even wearing headphones. Once you choose the Yamaha CFX Grand Voice and put headphones on, the binaural sampled sound is automatically ready and no additional settings are required. Now you can fully enjoy the concert grand experience at home, with or without headphones.
Yamaha have equipped the CLP675 with two 3-way speakers to project your sound. Each speaker contains 16cm, 8cm and 5cm drivers which each cover a frequency range. The sound is rich and dynamic, but retains the clarity needed to hear each note’s voicing. The speakers are tactfully positioned to reflect the bass frequencies downward and the treble frequencies up, producing the most authentic sound. Each amplifier can produce up to 105 watts of power, making the CLP675 suitable for gigs, studios and classrooms. This model’s intuitive 3-way speakers provide musicians with the projection and tonal quality needed to have an advanced sound
