Yamaha GB1K Grand Piano Polished American Walnut

The Yamaha GB1, or GB1k as it is also known, is a compact baby grand piano ideal for smaller spaces. It is often used in homes and schools as an alternative to larger uprights. As is typical with Yamaha pianos, the sound is bright and crisp and the action smooth. The copper wrapped strings are shorter to allow for the smaller body; Yamaha has been thorough in ensuring the GB1 Baby Grand Piano, though compact, makes no compromise on sound. The GB1 is a popular instrument for pianists who want the beauty of a grand piano in their home with the confidence that they are investing in a premium branded instrument.

Over A Century Of Grand Piano Making
Unparalleled in their beauty and musical range, grand pianos are the ultimate expression of the piano maker's art. Embodying over 100 years of accumulated expertise, these instruments epitomise the quality, performance and value for which Yamaha has long been renowned, as they enter the second century of Yamaha grand pianos.

Crafted With Uncommon Care And Integrity
Yamaha grand pianos have earned a global reputation as instruments of outstanding quality and value. Renowned for their eloquent expressive range, and for their reliable performance over time, they play an important role in the performing arts and music education. They are consistently amongst the pianos most highly recommended by piano tuners and technicians, and a leading choice of pianists at all levels, all over the world.

The Yamaha reputation rests on a century-long tradition of uncompromising care and craftsmanship, supported by an unmatched range of integrated expertise, top-of-the-line production facilities, and an exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated workforce. Yamaha's strength in the full range of relevant technologies allows them to produce virtually every part of every piano themselves – an approach that has helped them initiate significant advances and set what has long been recognised as the industry standard in quality control.

An open dialogue with professional musicians generates invaluable input that, in conjunction with sophisticated research facilities, has led to continual advances in each new generation of Yamaha pianos. Their global network offers Yamaha customers additional advantages, from cost-efficient regional manufacturing to the ready availability of sales and support throughout most of the world.

Balancing cutting-edge technology and innovation with the timeless skills of expert artisans, Yamaha pianos have come to represent an unsurpassed standard of affordable excellence. It is a standard that continues to generate ever-higher acclaim and make Yamaha grand pianos the first choice of many of the world's most discriminating pianists.

The Frame
The frame in a piano must be able to withstand a total string tension in excess of twenty tons; not only does the frame work to support the string tension, but it has a profound effect on the instrument’s sound. Yamaha makes its own frames, relying on a method of casting referred to as 'vacuum process', the world’s first such technique developed over many years in creating some of the best piano frames. During this time we have built up a storehouse of knowledge on factors such as the manner in which controlling the temperature and composition of casting, and even the coating used on the frame itself, affects the acoustic characteristics of the piano. This is a major reason that Yamaha is able to ensure reliable quality when crafting our pianos.

Seasoned For Destination
Yamaha specifically seasons every piano for its destination. The tuning stability, finish and overall musical integrity are enhanced over the long life expected of a fine piano.

Lid Prop Safety Catch
The GB1K is equipped with a lid prop stopper to prevent your fingers from being caught when the piano lid closes unexpectedly.

Soft-Close Key Fallboard
The fallboard is fitted with a soft-landing mechanism, freeing you from the worry of it shutting on your fingers unexpectedly.

Features
Yamaha's uncompromising insistence on superb sound and resonance, available at a price suitable for smaller budgets.

  • Advanced scale design
  • Yamaha balanced action
  • Vacuum Shield Mold Process (V-Pro) plate
  • Seasoned for destination
