What We Think
Yamaha HS5 monitors have an awesome sound, well worth what I paid for them, I do a lot of home recording ant the clarity that the 5” cone woofer 1 “dome tweeter produces is phenomenal and provides extreme accuracy when it comes to sound reproduction, great for mixing and mastering purposes, with a 45W amplifier, for the 5” cone the tweeter is driven by a 25W amplifier. This ensures optimal audio performance even at higher sound levels, I mainly use mine for recording rock and acoustic so I find it can capture every nuance from high end gain to the gentle scratching of fingers against strings…a highly defined low-end, with smooth highs, that retain the natural harmonic content of your sound.
It also takes XLR and TRS phone jack inputs, accepting both balanced and unbalanced signals, ideal for routing sound from an audio interface. The rear of the studio monitor also features a main level attenuator, ensuring optimal audio quality no matter the volume.
Great pair of speakers, highly recommended for whatever recording needs you demand, get em.
The Yamaha HS5 studio monitors are the second generation of HS active studio monitors and like their predecessors, share the same design philosophy as the world famous Yamaha NS-10M monitors. The Yamaha HS5 studio monitors provide superior sonic performance and accurate signal reproduction. There are three models of Yamaha HS studio monitors which include a 7 and 8 inch version. There's also a matching subwoofer named the Yamaha HS8S which is a powered 150w sub ideal for extending the bass when a well defined bottom end is needed. The HS5 speakers are one of the most popular studio monitors on the market today.
