Graham's Appraisal
“I think this is a great piano and excellent value for money. It plays well, with a nice responsive action and a good overall feel under the fingers. The polished mahogany cabinet also looks very respectable for its age, with some signs of general wear and tear as you would expect from a secondhand piano, but overall I think it presents very nicely.
The Kawai K15e is a lovely compact upright that offers a very enjoyable playing experience without taking up too much space. This particular piano is at concert pitch and has been thoroughly checked, tuned and regulated by our highly qualified and experienced technicians.
For anyone looking for a quality Kawai upright at an excellent secondhand price, I think this is a piano that represents very good value for money.”
Graham Blackledge – Rimmers Music, The Piano People
A Great-Value Secondhand Kawai K15 Upright Piano
If you are looking for a quality acoustic upright piano at an excellent secondhand price, this Kawai K15 in polished mahogany is well worth considering.
Manufactured in approximately 2012 in Indonesia, this Kawai K-15 is a compact acoustic upright designed to provide an enjoyable piano-playing experience while taking up relatively little space in the home.
The K15 is particularly appealing to pianists, students and families looking for a genuine acoustic piano but who do not necessarily have room for a larger upright.
At 110cm high, 148cm wide and just 59cm deep, this piano has a relatively compact footprint, making it a practical choice for a wide range of homes.
This individual piano is in good overall condition for its age, with some signs of general wear and tear consistent with a secondhand instrument. The polished mahogany cabinet remains respectable overall and gives the piano a warm, traditional appearance.
Most importantly, this piano has been professionally checked, tuned and regulated by our highly qualified and experienced piano technicians. It is currently at concert pitch and has been prepared ready for its new owner.
It is also priced at excellent value for money, making it an attractive opportunity for anyone looking for a good-quality secondhand Kawai upright without the price of buying a comparable new piano.
Why Choose the Kawai K15?
The Kawai K15 is a compact upright piano that has been designed with a focus on providing a responsive playing experience in a practical cabinet size.
Kawai's K-15 specification includes its Ultra-Responsive action, designed to provide a controlled and responsive feel under the fingers.
For developing pianists, having a responsive acoustic action is particularly important. It allows players to work on touch, dynamics and expression in a way that can be very rewarding as their playing develops.
The K15 also features a solid spruce soundboard, which plays an important role in the production and projection of the piano's acoustic tone.
The result is a compact upright that is well suited to home playing, practice, lessons and everyday enjoyment.
Responsive Acoustic Piano Action
One of the things Graham particularly likes about this piano is the feel of the action.
The Kawai K15 uses Kawai's Ultra-Responsive action, providing a nice responsive feel across the keyboard.
The action has been checked and regulated by our technicians, helping to ensure that the piano responds properly to the pianist's playing.
Whether you are a beginner learning your first pieces, a student working towards examinations or an experienced player simply looking for an enjoyable acoustic piano at home, a good responsive action is an important part of the playing experience.
Solid Spruce Soundboard
The K15 features a solid spruce soundboard.
The soundboard is one of the most important components of an acoustic piano. When the strings vibrate, their energy is transferred through the bridge to the soundboard, which then helps project and amplify the acoustic sound.
Spruce is widely used in piano construction because of its combination of strength, light weight and responsiveness.
This contributes to the K15's acoustic character and helps it produce a pleasing piano sound despite its relatively compact cabinet.
Compact Dimensions for the Home
One of the biggest advantages of this Kawai K15 is its size.
At approximately:
110cm high × 148cm wide × 59cm deep
it is considerably more compact than many larger studio and professional upright pianos.
The 59cm depth is particularly useful where floor space is limited.
If you want a genuine acoustic piano but need something that will work comfortably in a smaller room, the K15 is certainly worth considering.
Its polished mahogany cabinet also means that it can look very attractive within a traditional or contemporary home.
Polished Mahogany Cabinet
This Kawai K15 is finished in polished mahogany.
The cabinet has a warm, attractive appearance and gives the piano a traditional furniture-style look.
As this is a secondhand piano manufactured approximately in 2012, there are some signs of general wear and tear consistent with its age and previous use.
We believe it is important to be completely honest about the condition of our secondhand instruments, so please take the time to look carefully at all of the photographs on the listing.
Overall, however, the cabinet presents well and remains respectable for its age.
Professionally Checked, Tuned & Regulated
Buying a secondhand acoustic piano is about much more than simply finding a piano that looks good.
The condition of the playing mechanism, strings, soundboard, action and overall regulation is extremely important.
This Kawai K15 has been checked by our highly qualified and experienced piano technicians.
It has been:
- Professionally checked
- Tuned
- Regulated
- Checked at concert pitch
- Prepared for its new owner
The piano is currently at concert pitch, giving the new owner confidence that it has been properly prepared before delivery.

Excellent Value for Money
This Kawai K15 has been priced to offer excellent value for money.
A quality secondhand acoustic piano can be an excellent way of getting a much better instrument for your budget than buying a brand-new piano.
The K15 combines a responsive acoustic action, solid spruce soundboard, compact dimensions and Kawai's established piano-making experience.
For a pianist looking for an affordable acoustic upright, it offers a lot of piano for the money.
Ideal for Beginners and Developing Pianists
The Kawai K15 is a particularly sensible choice for someone learning to play piano.
An acoustic piano provides a completely different playing experience to many entry-level digital instruments, with the movement of the keys, hammers, strings and soundboard all contributing to the playing experience.
The responsive action gives students the opportunity to develop their finger strength, touch and dynamic control as they progress.
It is also a good choice for families where more than one person plays piano.
Also Suitable for Experienced Players
Although the K15 is compact, it is not simply a piano for beginners.
An experienced pianist looking for a smaller acoustic upright for the home may find the K15 very appealing.
The compact cabinet means that it can work particularly well where space is limited, while the responsive action provides an enjoyable playing experience.
It is also a practical choice for someone who wants a second piano for another room in the house, a holiday property or a teaching/practice environment.
