No longer is the 'entry' level piano what it used to be. There is a wealth of great features on the CVP701 which really makes it a great piano for any age or ability level. The sound quality is really superb and the addition of Super Articulation gives an amazing sense of realism to your playing. USB Audio support is another brilliant feature which shouldn't be underestimated.

More About The Yamaha CVP701 Digital Piano
Introducing the gateway to the Versatile piano range, the CVP701 is far from basic in its features and quality. The remarkable GH3X keyboard is not only graded in weight, with heavier keys in the lower register and lighter ones in the upper range, but it also includes a three-sensor system, adding a middle sensor to ensure you never miss a note. The keyboard also features an escapement mechanism, offering the feel of an acoustic piano when played softly. The CVP701 is equipped with both Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial grand piano sounds, allowing you to choose between the distinctive tones of Japanese or German pianos. The enhanced 'Piano Room' feature is perfect for when you want to immerse yourself in playing, even dimming the lights to minimize distractions. The LCD screen provides a graphical representation of the piano, where you can adjust the sound or even the 'lid height' of the virtual piano you're playing. 'Session Mode' lets you bring three virtual musicians into the mix, playing along with you in any of the 40 built-in musical styles. With the 'Dynamic Control' feature, these virtual musicians will follow your harmonies and expressions, and you can activate or deactivate them based on your needs. Recording your performance is a breeze with a single button press.
The sound quality is outstanding, featuring 'Natural!', 'Sweet!', and 'Cool!' voices, each meticulously sampled to capture their unique nuances and dynamics. 'Super Articulation' voices add the authentic characteristics of real instruments, such as the breath of a saxophone or the glide of a clarinet, making them sound like they’re being played live rather than through a piano keyboard. Beyond being a superb piano, the CVP701 offers the versatility of a keyboard, with 310 accompaniment styles at your disposal, allowing you to play along with various genres like ballads, dance, and Latin styles.
The built-in 16-track digital recorder is ideal for multi-track recording. You can even record audio directly to a USB Flash Drive in .WAV format, or play back your favorite audio tracks and perform alongside them on the piano. Features like Time Stretching, Pitch Shifting, and Vocal Cancel allow you to adjust the speed, pitch, or even turn a track into karaoke. Connectivity options are comprehensive, including Stereo Mini input, Auxiliary Outputs, MIDI In/Out/Thru, and USB Device and Host ports.
Our Opinion...
The CVP701 redefines what an 'entry' level piano can be. Packed with features, it’s a fantastic choice for players of any age or skill level. The sound quality is exceptional, and the addition of Super Articulation provides an incredible level of realism to your performance. USB Audio support is another valuable feature that should not be overlooked.

A Century of Piano Craftsmanship, Modernized
Experience a purely digital piano that carries the soul of a grand. From the first notes you play, you’ll notice the realistic touch and response, paired with the unmistakable tone of the finest concert grand pianos. The Clavinova offers expressive capabilities and a dynamic range that sets a new benchmark for digital pianos today.
Your Ultimate Piano Studio
The enhanced Piano Room now includes world-class Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos, along with vintage electric pianos. In Session Mode, you can invite three virtual musicians to jam with you as you practice or perform in one of 40 different musical styles. These session musicians adapt to your harmonies and dynamics with the new Dynamics Control feature, which you can adjust as needed. This special room also allows you to record your sessions with just a single button press.
A World of Variety
The CVP701 comes with hundreds of high-quality instrument voices, including 'Natural!', 'Sweet!', and 'Cool!' voices, all sampled to complement the instrument types. Yamaha’s Super Articulation Voices (SA) bring the genuine attributes of real instruments to life, making it feel as though they’re being played by a virtuoso rather than on a keyboard.
When You Want to Play More Than Just Piano
One of the standout features of the CVP Clavinova is its extensive range of Styles, which can be controlled in real-time by playing chords on the keyboard. These Accompaniment Styles introduce virtual musicians into your performances across various genres. From jazz ensembles to full orchestras, you control the chords and harmonies they play based on what you play, as well as the dynamics of the ensemble. Developed by professional session musicians worldwide, these Styles add authentic, studio-quality backing to your performances. You can use them to add intros, endings, and fill-ins, or even arrange songs in real-time.
Play a Hit Song, One Light at a Time
The CVP Clavinovas are incredibly patient, waiting until you hit the right notes. This is made possible by the unique Guide feature. The Follow Lights library teaches you popular melodies by lighting up the keys, making it the easiest way to learn a song. Just follow the lights, and fully arranged orchestrations will embellish your playing. Here, you’re not playing along with a recording—the recording plays along with you. Visit www.yamahamusicsoft.com/followlights to explore the entire library.
Get Connected and Start Singing
Connect a microphone and enjoy singing along with your keyboard performance or use Karaoke song files from YamahaMusicSoft.com. All input jacks are conveniently located at the front of the instrument for easy access. Yamaha equips this instrument with studio-quality effects like reverb, echo, and even Vocal Harmony. Alternatively, you can connect a portable music device such as an MP3 player or smartphone to enjoy listening through the Clavinova’s high-definition speaker system.
