Yamaha PSR-SX620 Digital Arranger Keyboard
The Yamaha PSR-SX620 is the new generation of Yamaha’s popular PSR-SX arranger keyboard range, replacing the hugely successful Yamaha PSR-SX600. Designed for players who want more than a traditional keyboard, the PSR-SX620 combines an impressive selection of realistic instrument sounds with professional-quality accompaniment styles, powerful arranging features and intuitive performance controls.
Whether you enjoy playing at home, performing live, creating arrangements or simply exploring different musical styles, the PSR-SX620 gives you an enormous amount of musical flexibility in a compact and portable keyboard.
With 1,002 Voices, 450 accompaniment Styles, 128-note polyphony, Super Articulation Voices, a Chord Looper, Multi Pads and hands-on performance controls, the PSR-SX620 is a versatile arranger keyboard for beginners, experienced players and performers alike.
A Huge Choice of Sounds
One of the biggest attractions of the Yamaha PSR-SX620 is the sheer variety of sounds available.
There are 1,002 high-quality Voices, along with 51 Drum/SFX Kits and 480 XG Voices, giving you everything from acoustic and electric pianos to strings, brass, woodwind, organs, guitars, synths and much more.
The PSR-SX620 also includes 137 Super Articulation Voices, which add realistic instrumental details to your playing. These sounds are designed to reproduce some of the characteristic techniques and nuances you would expect from real instruments, helping your arrangements sound much more expressive.
You can also combine different sounds using the three keyboard parts – Right 1, Right 2 and Left – allowing you to layer sounds or split the keyboard to create your own setups.
There is also approximately 380 MB of Expansion Voice capacity, giving you room to expand your sound library as your musical requirements develop.
450 Accompaniment Styles
The arranger features of the PSR-SX620 are where this keyboard really comes to life.
With 450 built-in accompaniment Styles, you can have a full backing band following your playing. Choose a musical style, play the chords and the PSR-SX620 creates an accompanying arrangement around you.
The Styles cover a huge range of genres, including pop, rock, jazz, dance, country, Latin and many more.
Each Style includes:
- 3 Intros
- 4 Main Variations
- 4 Fills
- 3 Endings
- 4 One Touch Settings
This means you can develop a song as you play, moving between different sections and variations to create a more interesting performance.
For players who are new to arranger keyboards, Smart Chord can make creating sophisticated accompaniment easier. More experienced players can choose from a wide range of fingering options to suit their playing style.
Chord Looper – Create Your Backing and Play Over It
One of the particularly useful features of the PSR-SX620 is the Chord Looper.
You can record a sequence of chords and have the keyboard play them back continuously. This frees up your left hand so you can concentrate on melodies, improvisation, changing sounds or using the performance controls.
You can store up to eight chord sequences in each Chord Looper bank, making it a useful creative tool for practice as well as live performance.
It is a great way of experimenting with arrangements without having to keep playing the chord progression manually.
Expressive Performance Controls
Yamaha has designed the PSR-SX620 with live performance in mind, putting useful controls directly within easy reach.
The keyboard features a joystick for pitch and modulation control, allowing you to add expression to your sounds as you play.
There are also two assignable Live Control knobs, which can be used to adjust a variety of parameters such as tone, effects and Style settings.
These controls allow you to make changes in real time rather than stopping to navigate menus, making the PSR-SX620 particularly enjoyable for players who like to experiment with their sound.
Multi Pads and Audio Link
The PSR-SX620 also features Multi Pads, giving you access to additional rhythmic phrases, melodic patterns and loops that can be triggered while you play.
There are 226 Multi Pad Banks, each with four pads, providing plenty of creative possibilities.
With Audio Link, your own audio can also be assigned to Multi Pads, allowing you to incorporate your own sounds and samples into performances.
A Better Built-In Sound System
Although the PSR-SX620 is relatively compact and weighs just 8.1kg, Yamaha has paid particular attention to its built-in speaker system.
The keyboard features two 12cm speakers powered by 15W + 15W amplification, combined with an internal BassPort and enlarged sound chamber.
The result is a fuller, more powerful sound than you might expect from a portable arranger keyboard.
This makes the PSR-SX620 perfectly suited to playing at home without additional amplification, while the Main Line Outputs allow you to connect to an external PA system, amplifier or recording equipment when required.
61-Key Keyboard with Touch Response
The PSR-SX620 has a 61-key keyboard with Initial Touch, allowing the volume and character of the sound to respond to how hard you play.
Five touch response settings are available:
- Normal
- Soft 1
- Soft 2
- Hard 1
- Hard 2
This makes it possible to tailor the keyboard's response to your individual playing style.
The 61-key format also keeps the PSR-SX620 relatively compact, making it easier to transport than a full 76- or 88-key instrument.
Clear Colour Display
The PSR-SX620 features a 4.3-inch colour TFT LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels.
The display provides clear access to sounds, Styles, settings and performance information, while the straightforward interface makes it easier to navigate the keyboard's extensive features.
The display supports English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese.
Recording and Song Creation
The PSR-SX620 isn't just for playing existing Styles – it can also become part of your own music-making setup.
It features 16-track recording, allowing you to build up arrangements and record your performances.
Quick Recording makes it easy to capture an idea, while Multi Track Recording gives you more control over individual parts.
The keyboard supports SMF and XF playback, with approximately 20GB of internal memory available for storing your own data and other content.
Connect Your Equipment
The Yamaha PSR-SX620 provides a comprehensive selection of connections, including:
- USB TO HOST
- USB TO DEVICE
- Main Line Outputs
- Headphone connection
- Microphone input
- AUX IN
- Sustain pedal connection
- Assignable foot pedal connection
A microphone input also makes the PSR-SX620 a useful option for singers and performers who want to incorporate vocals into their setup.
