Replaces the Yamaha YDP-S55
The Yamaha YDP-S56 Digital Piano is part of Yamaha’s latest ARIUS range, designed to bring authentic piano touch, rich concert grand sound, and modern smart features into a slim, space-saving cabinet ideal for home use. Replacing the Yamaha YDP-S55, this new model introduces Yamaha’s GrandTouch-E™ keyboard, upgraded speaker system, improved resonance technology, and full Bluetooth® Audio and MIDI connectivity.
Built on Yamaha’s over 100 years of piano-making heritage, the YDP-S56 is designed as a lifelong musical partner. It supports beginners, returning pianists, and developing players by delivering a realistic acoustic piano experience without the maintenance requirements of a traditional instrument.
From expressive classical playing to modern learning through apps and digital tools, the YDP-S56 is designed to make daily practice more engaging, inspiring, and effective.
True Piano Expression
The ARIUS philosophy is based on “True Piano Expression,” meaning the instrument responds naturally to your touch, allowing you to shape music exactly as intended.
The YDP-S56 delivers:
- Natural response across all 88 keys
- Balanced tone from bass to treble
- Expressive dynamic control
- Acoustic-style resonance and realism
- A playing experience that develops musicality
This makes it ideal for students developing technique as well as adults returning to piano after time away.
Playability - GrandTouch-E™ Keyboard
The YDP-S56 features Yamaha’s GrandTouch-E™ keyboard action, designed to replicate the feel of an acoustic grand piano.
Key benefits include:
- Fully weighted 88-key action
- Natural heavier bass and lighter treble feel
- Smooth repetition for faster passages
- Consistent resistance for proper technique development
- Enhanced sensor accuracy for expressive detail
This ensures that every nuance of your playing is captured, from the softest pianissimo to powerful fortissimo passages.
Sound - Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano Voice
At the heart of the YDP-S56 is the Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano Voice, sampled from Yamaha’s flagship concert grand piano.
This delivers:
- Deep, resonant bass tones
- Bright, singing treble clarity
- Rich harmonic detail
- Wide dynamic range
- Natural expressive tone shaping
Combined with Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite), the YDP-S56 reproduces the sympathetic resonance of strings and soundboard, creating a more realistic acoustic piano sound.

The YDP-S56 is equipped with a powerful speaker system designed for clarity and room-filling sound.
- 20W × 2 amplification
- 12 cm stereo speakers
- Diffuser grille technology
