Yamaha YUS3 review from Graham Blackledge, Store Manager at Rimmers Music:
“Yamaha’s YUS-series pianos are a great step up from the industry-standard U-Series uprights. They use carefully selected materials in their construction; for example, the hammers use mahogany and high quality lambs-wool felts. The hand-wound bass strings give this model an unrivalled quality of sound in the lower registers. The YUS3 also has the added benefit of a 'Sostenuto' middle pedal for selective sustain (normally only available on grand pianos and elite upright pianos) - this gives the player complete control over the sustain you wish to give and where. With an extremely responsive key action and beautiful tone, I think this piano is excellent value for money.”
Materials from CFX Concert Grand
In crafting the YUS3, Yamaha employed the same materials used in their world-famous, flagship Yamaha CFX concert grand piano—particularly in the felt hammers and piano strings. This creates an incredible dynamic range and a sparkling, colourful tone.
Yamaha’s skilled craftsmen take great care in precisely voicing each individual piano, infusing the instrument with a remarkable sonic quality that responds with sensitivity to the nuances of your playing.

The sound of a grand piano
To take maximum advantage of the magic of an acoustic piano, the YUS series features a special tone escapement system that releases sound from inside the piano. This innovative design creates an enveloping sound, typically associated with a grand piano, all within the comfort of your own home.
Design and finish of the YUS3

• The YUS3 features hammers using the same felt as the high-end SU7 models, improving the tone quality and allowing for finer control over the dynamics
• Double casters offer excellent support and stability, and enable the piano to be moved around easily.
• This model features a soft-close mechanism that slowly closes the fallboard; this reduces the risk of damage to the keys or soundboard.
• The gently curved design of the side arm, achieved through rotating metal fittings in the keyboard lid, provides a more ergonomic position for the pianist’s arms and wrists
• The polished ebony finish and artificial leather music rest shelf contribute to a sense of quality and allow the YUS3 to seamlessly complement any interior.
• These pianos also provide a standard safety lock to protect your instrument.

• Dimensions: 152(w) x 65(d) x 131(h) cm
