Our music lessons are suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Some students come to us as complete beginners, while others have previous experience and want regular support to improve technique, confidence or performance skills. We also welcome adult learners who may be returning to music after a break, or starting an instrument they have always wanted to learn.

What musical instruments do you teach, and do you teach singing?

We currently offer lessons in a range of popular instruments, including guitar, piano, keyboard, drums and singing. The tuition available can vary by location, so we recommend checking the individual music school pages for full details of what is offered at each branch.

Our lessons can support both casual learners and students who want a more structured approach. Some students prefer to learn their favourite songs and enjoy music as a hobby, while others choose to work towards exams, performances or long-term musical goals.

We offer tuition in: Guitar lessons, Piano lessons, Keyboard lessons, Drum lessons & Vocal or singing lessons

Each instrument has its own learning style and benefits. Piano and keyboard lessons are ideal for developing musical understanding, rhythm and coordination. Guitar lessons are a great option for students who want to learn chords, songs and different playing styles. Drum lessons are practical and energetic, helping students build timing and rhythm. Rimmers Music School lessons are available across several locations, helping students find a convenient place to learn. We currently have music schools in Bolton, Bury, Edinburgh, Leyland and Southport.

Some locations offer a wider range of instruments, while others specialise in selected tuition such as piano and keyboard.

What days do you teach?

Lesson days and times can vary depending on the chosen music school, teacher availability and the instrument you would like to learn. We aim to offer convenient lesson options for children, adults and families, including times that can work around school, work and other commitments.

Many students attend lessons after school, after work or at weekends, depending on availability at their chosen location. Lessons are usually arranged as regular weekly one-to-one sessions, helping students build consistency and make steady progress.

Your first free trial lesson is a good opportunity to discuss availability, ask questions and find out what lesson times may be suitable. If you decide to continue after your trial lesson, the team will help arrange a regular day and time wherever possible.

Because lessons are one-to-one, students receive individual attention from their teacher. This allows each lesson to be focused on the student’s ability, goals and progress, rather than following a fixed group pace.

What age do you recommend to begin learning to play?

People of many different ages can begin learning music. At Rimmers Music School, we welcome children, teenagers and adults, from young beginners through to older learners who want to start something new or return to music after many years.

The best age to start can depend on the instrument, the student’s concentration, confidence and interest in learning. Some children are ready to begin at a young age, while others benefit from starting slightly later. Adults can begin at any stage, even with no previous musical experience.

Our teachers are used to working with different ages and abilities, so lessons can be adapted to suit the learner. Whether the student is a complete beginner, a developing player or someone who has been playing for a long time, we will do our best to match them with suitable tuition.

The most important thing is that the student feels comfortable, encouraged and ready to enjoy learning.

How can I sign up and begin taking lessons?

Getting started with Rimmers Music School is simple. The first step is to complete our music school enquiry form with the student’s details, preferred instrument, location and any useful information about previous experience or goals.

Once we receive your enquiry, a member of our team will review the information and contact you to discuss lesson availability. We will help match the student with a suitable teacher where possible and arrange a convenient time for the first lesson.

To begin, please follow these steps:

Step 2: Purchase your enrolment fee.
Step 3: Our team will contact you to discuss availability and arrange the next steps.

Your first lesson is available as a FREE trial lesson, giving the student the chance to meet the teacher, ask questions and see whether lessons are right for them before committing to regular tuition.

How long is each lesson and how much does it cost?

Each lesson is a private one-to-one session lasting 30 minutes. This gives students dedicated time with their teacher, allowing the lesson to be focused on their ability, progress and musical goals.

Your first lesson is a FREE trial lesson, designed to introduce the student to the teacher and give them a feel for how lessons work. During the trial, you can ask questions, discuss aims and find out more about how regular tuition would be arranged.

If you decide to continue after the free trial lesson, lessons are usually booked as regular weekly sessions. Each weekly course will be held at the same time and place for £18.00 (£20 in Edinburgh) per half-hour.We request that tuition be paid in installments of £72.00 for 4 week months or £90.00 for 5 week months, depending on the month, on the first lesson of each month.
