More About The Yamaha CVP701 Clavinova Digital Piano
Representing the entry to the world of the Versatile piano, the CVP701 is certainly not entry level with features and quality. With the superb GH3X keyboard not only being graded in weight from being heavier at the lower register and lighter at the upper range, but also boasting a three-sensor configuration which adds a middle sensor, excellent for ensuring that you don't miss notes. Escapement is also present, meaning that the piano has an escapement mechanism that reproduces the feel of an acoustic piano whilst played very softly. The CVP701 also features both the Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial grand piano sounds to give you the flexibility of either the Japanese or German piano tone. There is now also an enhanced 'Piano Room' which is a great feature for when you just want to enjoy playing a grand piano, even the lights all go out to minimize distraction whilst playing. A graphical representation of the piano is present on the LCD screen where you can adjust the sound or even the 'lid height' of the piano sound that you're playing. 'Session Mode' allows you to bring three virtual musicians into the room to play along with you as you perform in any one of the 40 different musical styles built-in. Following your harmonies and expression using the new 'Dynamic Control' feature you can activate or deactivate each on depending upon your own musical needs. You can easily record your performance using a single button.
Sound quality is excellent as well, with 'Natural!', 'Sweet!', and 'Cool!' voices sampled to capture their unique naunces and dynamics. 'Super Articulation' voices add the genuine attributes of real instruments, like the breath of a saxophone, or the slide of a clarinet. This means that they don't sound like they're being played from the keys of a piano.
Not just a superb piano, the CVP701 also has the great flexibility of a keyboard, with 310 great accompaniment styles to choose from so you can play along with your favourite ballad, dance, latin styles and more.
The built-in 16 track digital recorder is great for multi-track recording. You can even record audio directly to your USB Flash Drive in .WAV format or play back your favourite audio track and then play along with it on the piano! Time Stretching, Pitch Shifting and Vocal Cancel features are all at your disposal, great for adjusting the speed, pitch or even karaoke. Connectivity is comprehensive offering Stereo Mini input, Auxiliary Outputs, Midi In/Out/Thru , USB Device and Host ports.
What We Think...
No longer is the 'entry' level piano what it used to be. There is a wealth of great features on the CVP701 which really makes it a great piano for any age or ability level. The sound quality is really superb and the addition of Super Articulation gives an amazing sense of realism to your playing. USB Audio support is another brilliant feature which shouldn't be underestimated.
Over a century of piano building experience culminates in a truly modern instrument.
Experience a purely digital piano with the heart of a true grand. You'll feel the difference from the very first notes you play. Realistic touch and response, paired with the unmistakeable tone of the finest concert grand pianos ever made, the Clavinova delivers expressive capabilities and a dynamic range that redefines the standard for digital pianos today.
Your dream piano studio awaits.
The enhanced Piano Room now includes the world-class Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos, plus vintage electric pianos. In Session Mode, you can invite three virtual musicians into the room to "jam" with you as you practice and perform in one of 40 different musical styles. These session musicians will automatically follow your harmonies and your volume expression using the new Dynamics Control feature. You can selectively activate and deactivate each one depending on your musical needs at the time. Within this special room, you can even record your sessions with the touch of a single button.
Variety is the spice of life.
The CVP-701 features hundreds of high-quality instrument Voices including "Natural!", "Sweet!" and "Cool!" Voices sampled specially to compliment the instrument types. Yamaha's Super Articulation Voices (SA) add genuine performance attributes of the real musical instruments as though they were being naturally performed by a virtuoso of that instrument instead of from the keys of a piano keyboard.
When you want to play more than just piano.
One of the defining features of a CVP Clavinova is the multitude of different Styles that can be controlled in real-time by playing chords on the keyboard. Accompaniment Styles introduce ensembles of virtual musicians to your performances in a variety of musical genres. From small jazz ensembles to full orchestras, you control what chords or harmony they play by what YOU play, plus you control the dynamic of the ensemble. Developed by professional session musicians from around the world, Styles add authentic, studio-quality backing players to your performances - even when you play by yourself. You can use Styles to add embellishing Intros, Endings & Fill-Ins and even arrange songs in real-time.
Now anyone can play a hit song, one light at a time.
CVP Clavinovas are very patient: if you don't play the right notes, they wait until you do! This is made possible with the CVP's unique Guide feature. As the easiest way to play a song, the Follow Lights library teaches you popular melodies in a way only possible on a CVP Clavinova. Just follow the lights one note at a time, and fully-arranged orchestrations and arpeggios embellish your playing. Here, you don't play along with a recording, the recording literally plays along with YOU. Visit www.yamahamusicsoft.com/followlights to browse the entire library today.
