How To Inspire Creativity When Producing Music
 width=

We can all lack motivation and creativity at some point in our daily lives, and one of those times is when producing music. We can get stuck in a rut and have a creative block - you are not alone everybody has them days and there are ways to increase your creative ability to help you get back on the right track.

Take A Break:

When we lack motivation we tend to stress ourselves out and end up being anything but productive, taking a break may seem like a bizarre thing to suggest, however taking that time away from whatever you are doing will help you to refresh your mind and will allow you to power on when you return to your activity. Doing something unrelated to whatever you are lacking motivation in is the best as you will fill your mind with new things and will recharge the creative spark that you feel has gone away. Once you return to producing your music and thinking of new exciting ideas your creative juices will start flowing again and you will naturally become motivated, this is a cycle that you should practice if you ever feel a similar way as working yourself into the ground is not healthy and when we are unmotivated the results seem to show this.

Mix It Up

We are all creatures of habit, therefore it is so easy to play it safe as this is what we are used to and feel comfortable with. We find ourselves relying on what we know and what we are used to, so venturing out of our comfort zone can put the fear inside of us and can cause us to self-doubt. Take a note of your strengths, weaknesses and any opportunities that you would like to fulfil and from here you can lead yourself to exciting new ideas, it is vital that you have confidence in yourself as when you create these new ideas you are producing fantastic music.

Change Your Surroundings

Staring at the same four walls when we are feeling unmotivated can drive us around the bend, getting out of familiar surroundings can help to regenerate a positive mindset and can also allow us to hear our music differently - whether you are wearing headphones or not you will begin to hear different tonal qualities and maybe something stands out to you that you didn't hear before.

Collaborate

Now, this may seem petrifying if you are a soloist, however, it really is a fantastic opportunity to take part in. Collaborating is a great way to learn new things about yourself, as you begin playing your instrument or start singing - the musician you are collaborating with can pick out some really great things about you and also pick out any flaws that they hear, they are a fresh set of ears and can hear things you may block out. Not only is this a benefit, but this also produces creativity because you may be introduced to a completely new genre of music Now over to you, creativity is all in the mind and it takes determination to be able to continue to produce music without becoming bored and unmotivated. There are many more things that you can do to increase your creativity levels, if you want to jam with a music school teacher then that is a brilliant way to improve your skills but also a way to get ideas on how you play and maybe new music to play!
