Kawai make wonderful pianos and the Kawai K-200 is no exception. Available in different cabinet finishes and fittings this piano looks beautiful. With its lovely tradition legs, great body and slow fall lid the attention to detail is amazing for the price point. The key action is well balanced throughout the range with nice tonal changes on touch, making this piano a real pleasure to play. With the added benefit of a 'Celeste' Practice pedal so you can play quietly at times, I really do like this piano. I think this piano is excellent value for money.

Making the most of Kawai’s Millennium iii upright action, the K-200 comes with carbon composites and double felted, mahogany core hammers. For lovers of practical features, the K-200 upright piano comes with a soft lid and extra wide music rest, perfect for holding longer scores of music. The Kawai K-200 model comes in a selection of stunning finishes including black, white and dark walnut. You can choose either chrome or brass for the finer details. Kawai has developed their outstanding reputation by building extremely high-quality instruments through advancements in traditional building techniques, whilst incorporating innovative material technology. The K-200 upright acoustic piano follows on from the legacy set out by the impressive K-2 by Kawai, including all the custom appointments that made it such a favourite with both amateur and professional pianists, as well as featuring some impressive new features.
Innovative technology
As with earlier models, the K-200 includes Kawai's excellently designed ABS technology, ABS-Carbon, combining their revolutionary ABS with carbon fibre. This composite not only increases the strength of the parts within the piano, making them reportedly 90% stronger than traditional wooden parts, but it also has the added bonus of making them significantly lighter. Therefore, the pianist is able to produce more explosive power with every stroke as well as performing deft techniques at lightning speed, all whilst applying minimum physical effort. This is Kawai’s Millennium Action III technology.
Attention-to-Detail
To improve the playing experience of their pianos and meet the demands of highly skilled pianists, Kawai has pored over the smallest adjustments. One example can be seen in the addition of microscopic surface texture on the jack, at the point where it meets the hammer. The jack is made out of carbon and polyacetal, which is far more sensitive and responsive than a traditional wooden jack thus giving the player significantly greater dynamic control.
Resonant Heart
At the heart of the piano is the impressive straight-grained, quarter-sawn, solid spruce soundboard. Each piece has been hand-selected with extreme care and must pass their rigorous testing procedure before being used in the construction of the K-200. The soundboard transfers the instructions from the keys with absolute precision, the utmost clarity and tonal articulation.
The resilient key surfaces feature acrylic/phenol, which responds beautifully during every performance and returns to its original position with impeccable timing. The keys are weighted, balanced and adjusted according to hammer size so that an even touch and feel is assured across the keyboard. Each key-top offers a smooth surface area to play on, whilst absorbing perspiration and natural oils to prevent unwanted slipping during a performance.
Great care has been taken to deliver a finished product of exceptional quality. The piano stands at a 113.5cm in height(45 inches), meaning it can fit discreetly into any surroundings, whilst still producing the fullest and richest timbre possible. The K-200 has additional features such as the “Soft Fall” fallboard, which has a dual-damping mechanism to protect player’s hands and the piano’s finish. There is also an extended music stand that allows you to spread out and display more sheet music whilst you're practising or performing.
The K-200 upright piano is completed with a polished ebony finish for a sophisticated and elegant look, which is sure to complement its surroundings perfectly.
